Abstract
This research aimed to 1) study the level of factors influencing students' decisions to pursue vocational education, 2) examine the level of decision-making to pursue vocational education, and 3) analyze the factors affecting students' decisions to continue studying in vocational education of students in education institutions under the Office of Vocational Education, Phetchaburi Province. The sample group consisted of 302 students from education institutions under the Office of Vocational Education, Phetchaburi Province, selected through multi-stage sampling. The research instrument was a 5-level rating scale questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.99. The statistical tools were used in data analysis, including percentage, mean, standard deviation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The research findings were as follows: 1. The level of factors affecting students decisions to choose vocational education in educational institutions were overall at a high level (𝑥 = 4.28, S.D. = 0.54). When considering each category, the average scores from highest to lowest were: factors related to individuals involved, factors related to employment, factors related to personal reasons, curriculum-related factors, and factors related to the reputation/image of the institution. 2. The level of decision-making process regarding vocational education selection among students in these institutions was overall at a high level (𝑥 = 4.37, S.D. = 0.53). When considering each category, the average scores from highest to lowest were: implementation of the decision, alternative analysis, selecting the best alternative, problem identification, alternative development, recognizing limitations of factors, and establishing a control and evaluation system. 3. Four key factors influencing students' decision to pursue in vocational education institutions under the Vocational Education Office of Phetchaburi Province were identified: 1) personal reasons (X1), 2) influence from relevant individuals (X4), 3) curriculum (X3), and 4) employment opportunities (X5). These factors collectively accounted for 75.20% of the predictive efficiency, which could be expressed as a raw score prediction equation as follows: Ŷtot = 0.85 + 0.34 (X1) + 0.17 (X4) + 0.15 (X3) + 0.15 (X5).
