This course covers number systems and codes, logic operations and logic gates, Boolean algebra, combinational logic circuits, and Karnaugh maps. It also addresses digital system design using programmable logic devices, specifically CPLDs and FPGAs.
The objective is for students to understand binary, decimal, octal, and hexadecimal number systems and how to convert between them; to comprehend logic operations and Boolean algebra; to be able to simplify equations or digital circuits using Boolean algebra or Karnaugh maps and subsequently design combinational circuits; and to understand digital circuit design and simulation using CPLDs and FPGAs.
